Furlough Has Changed…AGAIN!

The Furlough Scheme has changed… AGAIN!!!

The Govt have announced an extension to the furlough scheme, up to 31st March 2021.  Here are some FAQ’s to assist you.

  • The Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme (CJRS) will operate in much the same ways as before, with employees receiving 80% of their usual salary for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500 per month.
  • Employees can be furloughed on a full or part time basis.
  • Employers will not be expected to contribute to the wages for hours not worked but they will be asked to cover National Insurance and Employer pension contributions for hours not worked.
  • Employees do not have to have been furloughed under the CJRS scheme before, to qualify
  • Employees whose health has been affected by the coronavirus or who have caring responsibilities resulting from coronavirus can also be furloughed
  • Employees who were on the payroll on 23rd September 2020 and have since been made redundant can be re-employed and placed on furlough.
  • To be eligible, employers can only make these changes to the contract of employment with the agreement of the employee.
